Managing the itch of Eczema & Dermatitis
If you have an itch its almost impossible not to scratch it, but scratching may result in an Itch-Scratch Cycle which can make your Skin Flare-Up worse. By following these helpful steps you can reduce the urge to scratch and, therefore, help your skin get better.

Keep your nails well-trimmed

By keeping your nails as short as possible, you can help prevent damage to the skin.

Break the scratching habit

Keep the hands busy doing something that isn't damaging instead of scratching. For example, when an itch starts clench your fists for about 30 seconds. Then, press or gently pinch the area that is itching.
Reward yourself

As it is so difficult not to scratch it may help to set yourself targets such as not scratching for 10 minutes, then 30 minutes, then for an hour. Once you have achieved your targets reward yourself with a treat.
